Restart Expert with administrator rights for a new license to take effect, the click on the Refresh Data Acquisition Hardware List button twice. You should only need to run as administrator once. Enter your email address when prompted (the popup may be obscured by the main window). This should be the email address associated with the license. For example, the address that the licence file was emailed to. Then agree to the end user license agreement.

Add a line at the bottom containing the word "deactivate". Run Expert as administrator. Include a copy of the generated deactivation XXXXXX.txt file and the licence.txt file when you request a new licence. Then remove the "deactivate" line from default settings.txt.
